You can choose any time of room and any day, and the length of your stay. Saving apply to mid-week rates, your stay must be continuous, holiday weekends are not included, AND YOU MUST MENTION THIS OFFER - SRPING/FALL MIDWEEK MADNESS SPECIAL, WHEN YOU CALL TO RESERVE. Here’s the number 800-211-5551.

So what kind of rates are are we looking at? A Standard Ground Floor Mini-Suite from April 17 to June 24, runs from about $119 to to $139 during the week. On the weekend figure about $144 to $164. That’s an approximation. So it’s best to call and figure it out with them. There are also 4 more kinds of suites that you can inquire about - Quee Mini-Suite, Deluxe Queen Mini-Suite, King Mini-Suite, and the Harbor Suite.

The Cape Cod Harbor House Inn is located on Hyannis Harbor, a short walk from the Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard Ferry Lines, deep sea fishing charters, sailing and kayak rentals, pirate ship adventures, narrated tours of the harbor and Hyannisport (think view of Kennedy compound), as well as lots of shops and restaurants. It’s within a block of two beaches.

The other thing that I like about the Cape Cod Harbor Inn is that they have a shuttle to the bus terminal. So if you’re an urban dweller, who usually depends on public transportation, you don’t have to go to the expense of renting a car. Outside of Hyannis, there really isn’t much public transportation t speak of on Cape Cod. Here’s the website of the Cape Cod Harbor House Inn

Harry’s Bar in Hyannis - Cajun Food and Blues Tonight

Leo and I don’t have the time or money to go to New Orleans tonight, but we can get our fix of blues and Cajun food at Harry’s Bar in Hyannis. It’s the closest thing we’ve been able to find to Southern juke joint and we love it!

I haven’t either bothered to check out who’s playing there - because we’ve never heard bad music or had a bad meal there. People of all ages hang out at Harry’s. You can get dressed up if you want to, but one of the attractions of tonight’s entertainment, is that I don’t feel like getting dressed up and we don’t have to. We’ll head over for a great meal, and hopefully be able to dance off the calories!

The food is New Orleans inspired and I love tasting the different spices in my mouth and it’s affordable. I love the Seafood Etoufeee - crawfish tails and shrimp over rice with all kinds of exotic spices (about $17). Leo usually starts wtih Maryland Style Cabcakes ($13) and moves on to BBQ Chicken Dinner ($13).

Harry’s is located at the corner of Main Street and Steven’s Street in Hyannis.

Spring Cape Cod Golf Packages Start at $69 a day at the Heritage House in Hyannis.

It’s finally sunny and over 50 degrees today, and the requests for a suitable golf package continue to grow in this family. From what I can see, Spring golf on Cape Cod is available for about $69 a night, double occupancy. Heritage House in Hyannis is my latest find. You have to understand, that I really don’t know much about golf, so I just find the stuff and relay the information to various golfers in the family.

To stay at the Heritage House and play golf, start with their Primary Package which includes an overnight stay and one round of golf with a guaranteed tee time. From April 1 to May 14, the weekday daily rate is $69 and for weekends $89. From May 15 to June 1, the weekday rate remains at $69, but the weekend rate increases to $99. Approaching summer the rates increase again. From June 2 the weekday rate increases to $89, and the weekend rate moves to $119.

Many of the Cape Cod golf courses participate in this package: Captains, Cranberry Village, Dennis Pines and Highlands, Bass River, Bayberry Hills, Hyannis Golf Club, Quashnet Valley, Olde Barnstable Fairgrounds, Falmouth Country Club, Cape Cod Country Club, Sandwich Hollows, Bay Pointe, Atlantic Country Club, Brookside, Balleymeade Country Club, Waverly Oaks, Pine Hills Golf Club, Farm Neck, and Ocean Edge, and Crosswinds.

You can create your own Deluxe Golf Package also at the Heritage House. Obviously the rates will vary depending on your choices.
You can include power golf cars.
You can decide to eat breakfast and/or dinner at Chauncy’s.
Participate in individual or group lessons.
Go sightseeing on Martha’s Vineyard or Nantucket.
Even take whalewatching cruise.

For more info on the Primary or Deluxe Cape Cod Golf Packages visit the Heritage House website. It’s always a good idea to confirm the rates and golf courses. Most websites always have the caveat that things are subject to change.

Classical music lovers on Cape Cod will not want to miss the upcoming Mendelssohn Celebration by the Cape Cod Symphony on April 4 and 5. Concerto for Violin and Orchestra in E minor. Op 64
A Midsummer Night’s Dream: A Dramatic Presentat

The April 4 performance is at 8 pm. On Sunday, April 5, the performance is at 3 pm. The Cape Cod Symphony Orchestra performances are in the Barnstable Performing Arts Center in Hyannis. The 1,400-seat hall is climate-controlled and has many seating options and excellent sight lines. Lots of free parking.

This is a chance to dress up on Cape Cod. It’s a pretty casual lifestyle here. And most of the time, that’s just the way I like it.  But sometimes I do like to get all dolled up!

Tickets range from $28 to $58, depending upon performance and seating choice. The Cape Cod Symphony has a spiffy website and you can order online. CLICK HERE to visit the Cape Cod Symphony Orchestra Website.

Mid-week Discount Golf Vacations at the Hyannis Travel Inn Under $70.00 until May 21, 2009

Leo’s brother is an avid golfer  and he and his buddies want to come to Cape Cod for golf and fun. So I’ve been researching hotels and golf this morning.

I found a great deal at the Hyannis Travel Inn, on North Street in Hyannis. They have a mid-week golf special good until May 21, 2009. You pay $69.95 pers person and get the room, and 1 free round of golf with a cart, continental breakfast, 1 $25 gift certificate per room to Albertos Ristorante. (Albertos is good hearty Italian guy food, we’ve eaten there!). Of course the room tax is additional. Rates are subject to change without notice. So I always recommend booking asap if you’re interested. All of the rooms are non-smoking, and no pets are allowed.

Several golf courses are available with the package. You can call them at 508-280-8002 for the details on the particular course and the rest of the golf package. Or visit the Hyannis Travel Inn website and book onine.

The Hyannis Travel Inn has a heated indoor pool and whirlpool, which could be very useful for golf muscles that haven’t been used all winter.

Angie Dickinson will be the Boston Pops Guest Conducter in Hyannis

Tags: , ,

On August 2 (a Sunday) Angie Dickinson will be the Celebrity Guest Conductor for the Boston Pops, at their annual concernt on the Hyannis Village Green.  It will be the 24th such performance known as “Pops by the Sea.” You can either get festival seats for $50, or join Leo and me on the lawn for $15. It’s from 5 to 7 pm.  The procedes support the arts on Cape Cod. Email pops2009@artsfoundation.org for more info.

If you want to go to this, make your reservations VERY early. It sells out every year. We always go with a group of fellow music lovers. When I was growing up, I thought Angie Dickinson’s Sgt. Pepper Anderson in Police Woman, was the sexiest woman alive! (Leo’s nodding yes too!)
