Enjoy a Luxurious Romantic Getaway at the Ashley Manor Inn on Cape Cod

Tags: , , ,

There’s still time to experience a luxurious and romantic getaway on Cape Cod at off-season prices.

The Ashley Manor Bed and Breakfast, located in the historic Village of Barnstable and Barnstable Harbor, has two luxury suites guaranteed to inspire the romantic in all of us. This bed and breakfast, itself, dates back to 1699.

The Canterbury Suite has two gorgeous rooms and a full bath. The bedroom has a elegant Queen bed and a working fireplace. The cable TV is “hidden” in a cherry armoir. The adjacent sitting room has an antique desk and two sitting chairs. The bath has a two-person Jacuzzi whirlpool tub. The off-season rates vary from $175 to $195. In-season rates are about $235.

The King George’s Suite is a second-floor corner suite. It has a very warm and cozy feeling because the traditional architecture has all kinds of nooks and crannies. But don’t fear, you won’t feel cramped in this spacious room, with eight windows,  that has a King Bed and seating area in front of a fireplace. The private bath also includes a two-person Jacuzzi whirlpool. The off-season rates vary from $175 to $195. In-season rates are about $235.

A three-course gourmet breakfast is served each morning - either on the terrace or infront of a roaring fire. Each day the breakfast is different - start with freshly ground coffee, teas, juice and fresh seasonal fruit or baked fruit as first course. Entrees may include French toast, pancakes, waffles and various creative egg dishes. Cranberry pie or Blueberry-Peach-Raspberry Crisp are house specialties! If you have special dietary needs, please let the Ashley Manor Inkeepers know ahead of time and they will work with you to accommodate your needs.

And in the afternoon, before or after dinner enjoy a complimentary cordial - brandy, port, or hazelnut sherry - in the library.

If you love to play tennis, bring your racquet. There’s a private court in the backyard.

Ashley Manor is truly a special place to stay on Cape Cod. The historic structure and location, the romantic suites with fireplace and jacuzzi, and elegant gourmet breakfasts and cordials in the library will make for a romantic and gracious visit to Cape Cod. Play some tennis in the backyard and you’ll feel like your at an English countryhouse in the 1930’s. (You know like we watch on PBS!)

Hyannis Motels for a Fabulous Cape Cod Getway this April

Tags: ,

Here’s some suggestions for Hyannis motels if you’re thinking about coming to Cape Cod this April. Hyannis is located on the southern side of Cape Cod. Hyannis motels generally cluster along Main Street, the Hyannis Harbor and Route 132.

If you don’t have your own car, Hyannis is a good place to come to Cape Cod for a vacation. You can easily take a bus from Boston to Hyannis. Once in Hyannis there is a basic public transporation system. It’s not great, but it’s better than what exists on the rest of the Cape. And if you stay in a Hyannis motel on the waterfront on Main Street, you can walk to a lot of attractions.

If you’re one of our British or European visitors who come for shopping opportunties, Hyannis is the commercial cnter of Cape Cod. It is home to the Cape Cod Mall, which houses major retailers Macy’s, Best Buy, Sears, and the Barnes & Noble Bookstore.

For some of the Hyannis motels, the room rate options are so varied, it’s best to go to the websites and check for yourself. But when there is a simpler rate structure I’ve included it. But there’s always taxes and minimum stay requirements and other stuff to consider.

So what kind of rates are are we looking at? A Standard Ground Floor Mini-Suite from April 17 to June 24, runs from about $119 to to $139 during the week. On the weekend figure about $144 to $164. That’s an approximation. So it’s best to call and figure it out with them. There are also 4 more kinds of suites that you can inquire about - Quee Mini-Suite, Deluxe Queen Mini-Suite, King Mini-Suite, and the Harbor Suite.

The Cape Cod Harbor House Inn is located on Hyannis Harbor, a short walk from the Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard Ferry Lines, deep sea fishing charters, sailing and kayak rentals, pirate ship adventures, narrated tours of the harbor and Hyannisport (think view of Kennedy compound), as well as lots of shops and restaurants. The other thing that I like about the Cape Cod Harbor Inn is that they have a shuttle to the bus terminal. Outside of Hyannis, there really isn’t much public transportation t speak of on Cape Cod. Here’s the website of the Cape Cod Harbor House Inn

Mid-week Discount Golf Vacations at the Hyannis Travel Inn Under $70.00 until May 21, 2009

Leo’s brother is an avid golfer  and he and his buddies want to come to Cape Cod for golf and fun. So I’ve been researching hotels and golf this morning.

I found a great deal at the Hyannis Travel Inn, on North Street in Hyannis. They have a mid-week golf special good until May 21, 2009. You pay $69.95 pers person and get the room, and 1 free round of golf with a cart, continental breakfast, 1 $25 gift certificate per room to Albertos Ristorante. (Albertos is good hearty Italian guy food, we’ve eaten there!). Of course the room tax is additional. Rates are subject to change without notice. So I always recommend booking asap if you’re interested. All of the rooms are non-smoking, and no pets are allowed.

Several golf courses are available with the package. You can call them at 508-280-8002 for the details on the particular course and the rest of the golf package. Or visit the Hyannis Travel Inn website and book onine.

The Hyannis Travel Inn has a heated indoor pool and whirlpool, which could be very useful for golf muscles that haven’t been used all winter.

For each additional cot or crib add $10.
Rates may change without notice, so I’d book early to lock in the rates.
During the summer you can save even more money, if you take advantage of the free continental breakfast served from the end of May until September.

But no pets allowed.

I should really tell you something about the motel. First of all, The Craigville Motel is a family-owned business. It has 41 rooms on a 12-acre site with a swimming pool and sunning deck. All rooms include air conditioning, 25” Cable TV, Room Controlled Heat, Microwave, Refrigerator, In Room Telephone.

The location is quite good too. You’re near the docks for the Martha’s Vineyard or Nantucket ferries, the John F. Kennedy Museum, the Cape Cod Mall, and lots of restaurants! Oh the Kennedy museum in the one on Main Street, Hyannis. Don’t confuse it with the JFK Library in Boston.
