Memorial Day Weekend is the start to the official summer season on Cape Cod. It used to be the weekend when we would welcome back all our regular summer residents and the tourists would arrive. While that line has seemed to blur in recent years, this weekend is still a major deal around here. And because of that Cape Cod motels and other lodging rates are higher on that weekend. But you can still find affordable deals on Cape Cod on Memorial Day Weekend.

Here are a few that I’ve found so far. Just know, that these numbers can go up or down without notice depending on the economy and weather.  So if you find rates that you like, I would definitely make the reservation and lock them in. Don’t forget state and local taxes and minimum stay requirements. There may be additional charges for individual motels and hotels. So you should always call to confirm.

The Town Crier Motel in Eastham has rates available for Memorial Day Weekend starting at $129/night. Double occupancy. 2 children under 15 can stay free. Extra adults and children are $15 each. It’s $10 each for adults and children 13 and over. An additional $5 for children 12 and Under. Room amenities include color / cable television, microwave, refrigerator, hair dryer, coffee-maker, direct-dial telephone, FREE wireless internet and individual Heat/AC control.

The Earl of Sandwich, on Route 6A in Sandwich has posted that its Memorial Day rates are $85 for a room with a Queen bed and $89 for a room with 2 Double beds. All rooms have either Queen or Double beds, air conditioning, refrigerators, private bath, cable/color television, telephones, and WiFi. Many rooms have canopied beds. A continental breakfast is included in your room rate.

The Carleton Motel in Falmouth rates for the Memorial Day Weekend period are $99.95 for a room with a Queen Bed and $119.95 for a room with two Double Beds. There may be a 3-night minimum stay requirement for Memorial Day Weekend. Amenities include Continental Breakfast, Outdoor Pool, Barbeque Areas, Kids Playground Area, Free High-speed Wireless Internet; In-room Fridge/Microwave/Coffeemaker.

Here’s some suggestions for Hyannis motels if you’re thinking about coming to Cape Cod this April. Hyannis is located on the southern side of Cape Cod. Hyannis motels generally cluster along Main Street, the Hyannis Harbor and Route 132.

If you don’t have your own car, Hyannis is a good place to come to Cape Cod for a vacation. You can easily take a bus from Boston to Hyannis. Once in Hyannis there is a basic public transporation system. It’s not great, but it’s better than what exists on the rest of the Cape. And if you stay in a Hyannis motel on the waterfront on Main Street, you can walk to a lot of attractions.

If you’re one of our British or European visitors who come for shopping opportunties, Hyannis is the commercial cnter of Cape Cod. It is home to the Cape Cod Mall, which houses major retailers Macy’s, Best Buy, Sears, and the Barnes & Noble Bookstore.

For some of the Hyannis motels, the room rate options are so varied, it’s best to go to the websites and check for yourself. But when there is a simpler rate structure I’ve included it. But there’s always taxes and minimum stay requirements and other stuff to consider.

During April School Vacation Week, Mariner Motor Lodge has great rates and lots of fun events.

From April 18 - 26, otherwise known as April School Vacation, in Massachusetts the Mariner Motor Lodge, in West Yarmouth has great rates and family-friendly events.

First the room rates.  Weekday rates generally range from $49 to $59 and Weekend rates range from $64 to $79. These can change for school vacation week, so call ahead. Rates are based on double occupancy and kids stay free. There’s complimentary mini-muffins and coffee. Free mini-golf and indoor pool. There’s no smoking in the rooms, but if you’re a smoker you can smoke on the grounds outside. No pets.

During April School Vacation week there will be movies on the big screen tv in the conference room, magic shows, jugglers dancing cops, and ice cream parties.

SPRING 2009 Directory of Affordable Cape Cod Motels, Hotels, Inns, Bed and Breakfasts and Resorts

I’ve received quite few requests for just a list of affordable places to stay on Cape Cod. So that you can just get an idea of what’s available this Spring. Okay so I’ve started to make such a list. It’s really hard to make categories, because one hotel’s standard room with fridge and microwave, is another’s kitchenette. So I’m just listing the place and town and rates I’ve found, and you click on the name of the motel to get all of the details.

The rates quoted are daily and usually for 2 persons. Sometimes kids under certain ages stay free and sometimes they don’t. Complimentary breakfasts, even just coffee, are a real budget saver in my book.

What’s affordable? That varies from person to person, but Leo and I are probably the cheapest people on the planet when it comes to travel. Well we like to go lots of places and the less we spend the more places we can go! We usually like to stay in the $50 to $60 range with a fridge and coffeemaker. (If rooms don’t have them, we bring ours! The coffeemaker not the fridge). That means we do a lot of off-season travel and I spend a lot of time online and calling around.

It’s also how this blog happened. Leo decides to go somewhere and then he says “Why don’t YOU check it out online and see what you can find?” I’ve developed quite a rep in the family for find great places. So now I get lots of requests for help. A blog was a convenient way to share info.

So I hope this helps you find a great spot get away for a few days.

Stay at the Colonial Village Motel in Dennisport on Cape Cod from May 23 to June 6 starting at $80 a day.

From May 23 to June 6 rates start at $80 for a motel room. Efficiency rooms start at $90 and a Two-Bedroom Suite goes for only $115.  The rate is based on two persons, any additional person is $15 extra - regardless of age. Spring rates continue to be affordable from June 7 to June 26. A motel room starts at $95; an efficiency room starts at $105, and a two-bedroom suite starts at $145. Guest rooms have two full double beds, cable color TV, telephones and tiled showers and baths. Kitchenette units have eat in facilities in a separate alcove. All guest rooms have cross ventilation, air conditioning and baseboard heating. All rooms are non-smoking.  And No Pets.

The Colonial Village Motel has both an indoor and outdoor pool. (I always ask when I’m booking at any place, if the pool is expected to be available when I’m there. You never know about scheduled maintenance etc. )

The Old Landing Motel in Dennisport is filled with Cape Cod charm and affordable room rates starting at $50 this spring.

About. The Old Landing Motel is located at 15 Sea Street, in Dennisport, on Cape Cod. The 16-unit motel owned by father and son David and Jon Maslin is located on Nantucket Sound, with some rooms having ocean views. You can either enjoy the beach or the pool. If you’re a coffee lover, there is a mini espresso bar in the lobby serving espressos, caffe lattes, and cappuccinos made from gourmet coffee.

Amenities. All rooms have either king or queen beds and futons, cable TV, cross-ventilation, small refrigerators, central automatic heating for spring and fall vacations, some rooms have views of Nantucket Sound. High-speed wireless internet is also available.

Spring Room Rates. If you stay on the ground floor, Spring room rates vary from $50 to $90. If you want connecting rooms the spring rate starts at $80 and goes to $140. Oceanview second floor rooms start at $60 and go to $100. These rates may be higher on weekends and holidays and the length of stay can also affect the room rates. Beach Lovers will Love the Sandy Neck Motel at $95 a night this Spring.

The Sandy Neck Motel is located at 669 Route 6A or at the corner of Route 6A and Sandy Neck Road - the entrance to Sandy Neck Beach - one of the best beaches on Cape Cod. It’s a six-mile barrier beach. It is also across the street from Amari’s Italian restaurant. One of my favorite Sandwich restaurants. There are several little gift shops within walking distance. Lavender Moon always has a psychic on duty for readings. And Mrs. Mugs has whimsical gifts to bring home.

Room rates at the Sandy Neck Motel are quite reasonable. In addition to standard motel rooms there are also efficiencies.  In the spring motel room daily rates vary from $65 to $89. For two people to stay in the efficiency, the daily rate is $95 (by the week $630).  For four people to stay at the efficiency, the daily rate is $175.  But room rates can change so call the Sandy Neck Motel at 508-362-3992. The Midway Motel in North Eastham, Cape Cod has Spring Rates as Low as $66 a day!

If you want a quiet, peaceful, spring getaway on Cape Cod, please check out the Midway Motel in North Eastham. $66 gets you a room with 1 Queen Size bed for two people from March 6 to May 28. If you prefer 2 double beds the rate increase from $70 to $96 depending on the number of people included in the reservation.  There may be minimum stays for some weekends, may be some specials and discounts, so always call ahead 800-755-3117.

All rooms have air-conditioning. Though I can’t believe you’ll need it in the spring. No pets and no smoking applies.

What I like most is that the owners live there, so you know, it’s going to be a well-behaved, quiet, well-taken care of motel. When Leo and I travel, this is always a big plus for us. The Midway Motel is small and it’s site has lots of open space. This always makes a motel feel more peaceful.

It’s connected to the Cape Cod Rail Trail by a short path. So if you like to bike, this is great. Spring is a good time to come for that. Sometimes in the summer, even on Cape Cod, it gets so hot that you don’t feel much like it!

Stay at the Hyannis Inn for as Little as $45 a Night from April 2 to April 23. (It has a heated indoor pool!)

So here’s the deal for those great April rates. There’s two room rate structures. One from Sunday to Thursday and the other for Friday and Saturday. And there are three kinds of rooms Standard, Deluxe and Whirlpool.

From Sunday through Thursday the room rates range from $45 to $75 - From Standard to Whirlpool.
On Friday and Saturday the room rates range from $51 to $95.

Starting on April 24 the rates increase to a still affordable. The rates are good until May 21.
From Sunday through Thursday the room rates range from $60 to $95
On Friday and Saturday the room rates range from $73 to $116.

It is AAA approved and as I excitedly pointed out it has a heated indoor pool. (Quite frankly I’m ready to check in myself.) So if you’re looking for a place to stay during April School Vacation. Main Street Hyannis is close to so many attractions that you’ll be able to keep the kids amused, if the pool bores them.

Stay at the Surfside Cottages in South Wellfleet during April School Vacation for as little as $95 a day.

Surfside Cottages have posted special rates for the April School Vacation (the week of  April 17). And as a plus for petlovers - you can bring your pet along if you’re staying in certan units. The surfside cottages are located quite near sand dunes that lead to LeCount Hollow Beach in the National Seashore Park.

It might not be bathingsuit weather, but you can still have some great times on the beach. And check out the rest of this blog, there is a lot to do on Cape Cod that doesn’t involve sitting on the beach.
