Nelle Hoxie’s Cape Cod - Let a Local Show You the Real Cape Cod

Culture

If you want to experience a vibrant local art community, Cape Cod is a fabulous place. You can actively participate in the museums and galleries, becoming members if you wish, without breaking the bank!

Lighthouses. The maritime history of Cape Cod is closely tied to her many lighthouses. They serve as stately reminders to that history and the men and women who worked to protect the mariners and fisherman who worked on our dangerous coastal waters.

Museums. Annual membership at the Cape Cod Museum of Art in Dennis is only $50 for an invidual and $75 for a duel membership. At the Cahoon Musuem of American Art a person can become a member for $40 and a couple for $60. Both of these museums are connected to their communities and actively promote local artists.

They have ongoing lecture series, classes, and exhibits. Leo and I are at these places at least once a month or more for some event.  I also have to plug the Cape Cinema which is on the grounds of the Cape Cod Museum of Art. It shows great independent films, that we would sometimes have to go to the Boston area to see. Whenever Leo and I want to go to a movie, it is the first place we check. Don’t forget to eat at the Stage Door Cafe.
